Charging tax - Food

I purchanse two Arizona drinks at mobil gas station the cashier charge me $2.40
In California the Arizona drink doesn't have tax just CRV
The drink already have the price print it on the can wich is 99 cents plus crv

Wich the total will be $1.09 now for two drinks $2.18

Can they do that?

And i ask for a recipt and

The recipt doesn't have the name of the item thei purchense it just said "nontax " $2.40
and the cashier refuse to give his name

Is not about the money

So you tell me that they can charged whatever they want regardless the price is print it on the can?
