I am an ex-Allstate customer. I got married and switched over to State Farm. In the long process of getting it switched, State Farm needed a letter of experience showing that the accident I was in in 2003 was not my fault. Long story short, the guy who hit my car had no insurance and was on probation for drugs. Allstate showed on their reports that I was at fault, and my police report says I was not.
Now, two years later, I get a letter from Allstate saying they found the guy who hit my vehicle, that he had no insurance, and that he is refusing to pay for the damages. Allstate says that is all they can do and that if I want to, I can file a court claim. It does not make sense why anyone would want to file a report with the police or an insurance company if you have to pay for the damages yourself.
