Account Marked Delinquent After Payment Applied to Principal Only

Midland Mortgage intentionally put my account into "delinquent" status and would not correct their mistake, even after I made numerous phone calls and sent numerous emails to the vice-president of customer service, proving to them they were wrong and requesting that they correct my account.

CitiMortgage sold my impeccable account to Midland Mortgage in November. I mailed my payment, which is due the first of each month, to Midland Mortgage on December 27th. The check cleared my bank account on January 4th. On January 17th, Midland Mortgage called me to say I was delinquent on my account and that they had not received my January payment. I informed them they had received my payment because my check had already cleared my bank account. I told the person my check number and the amount of the check and said I was looking at the front and back of the check and Midland Mortgage had already cashed it, therefore I was not delinquent, and I requested that my account be corrected. They said it would be.

I called back later the same day to see if a different person could figure out what happened to my check. That person put me on hold for over 10 minutes, during which time I was on Midland Mortgage's website typing a long letter to the vice-president of customer service. After being on hold for 10 minutes or more, I hung up and called again. This time I got a man and I went through my whole ordeal again. He said he would submit a request to the department that could reverse the way my check was applied to my account, which is that they applied my entire January payment to principal, therefore throwing my account into delinquent status. He said it would take Midland Mortgage 48-72 hours to correct.

A week later, my account was still delinquent. I called again, and this time I insisted on speaking with someone of higher authority. She said the reason it did not get corrected the first time was that the representative who submitted the request did not word it correctly, so the department the request went to did not understand what he was requesting, nor did that department contact the representative's superior to ask about it. They just let it go. I informed Kim Glover, the person I was speaking with, that my account had better be corrected in 24 hours, after she tried telling me, once again like the other people there, that it would take 48-72 hours.

This company falsified my account and it was done intentionally. If they had looked at my payment history, they would have seen my consistent time of payment and the amount I always pay each month. There was absolutely no reason for them to assume my January payment was to go to principal only. This company has inadequate people working there who do not know how to properly and accurately apply a payment to someone's account, and who cannot send a request worded correctly for corrections. Or maybe it is because the department that all the corrections go to is so unreasonable that if a request is not worded "just right," they choose not to follow up, investigate, or find out the reason for the request.

They simply do not care, and as long as they can put a customer's account in "delinquent" status, they are happy. Don't do business with Midland Mortgage.
