I had just moved from southern California to New Mexico and was looking for home insurance. I found an Allstate agency with a very "professional" agent named Marcuz. After shopping at a few more insurers, they offered a very reasonable rate to cover two homes and three cars. I asked the "pro" agent for homeowner insurance with the coverage necessary in New Mexico.
Then, five years and a few thousand dollars of premiums later, we had a hard winter in the city and some water pipes burst in the attic of one of the houses. I called Allstate to get the house fixed, and the agent told me that I was not covered for broken pipes because I had purchased a cheap product (?). Her only recommendation was to join a class action against Allstate Insurance so I could get some money (I did not qualify for the class action).
Anyway, the cost of fixing the ceilings, walls, furniture, a damaged computer, etc. is over $5k, and there is no news from this rip-off insurance. My fault? Yes, because I picked a very "professional" agency...
