In June we finalized our bankruptcy. Our original mortgage was through Principal Residential Mortgage. Midland bought them in January, I believe. After 2 years had passed, we decided to take a look at our credit report and realized that Midland is not reporting us to the credit bureaus. They say it is because they never got a reaffirmation agreement from us, and they say it is unlawful for them to report us without that reaffirmation agreement.
My bankruptcy lawyer says it is usually up to the mortgage company to send a reaffirmation agreement, but in my case they did not, which at the time was Principal Residential Mortgage. My lawyer said he could file a petition with the courts to see if we can get a reaffirmation agreement, but it would take more money that I do not have. Midland basically says I am stuck. What do I do now? Help!
