Aurora Loan Services sold my account to Midland Mortgage, also known as MidFirst Bank, in July. All was well until this year, when I received my annual escrow account statement. It listed my old payment as 672.30 and said that effective in June my new payment would be 661.25.
It also stated that my escrow was short by 34.06, so I included the shortage with my May payment, which should have made my payment 658.42. Since they never sent a new coupon book, I went ahead and sent 661.25 for June, which should have more than covered my payment. Then I sent July's payment, and on July 15th I received a letter stating that they were holding June's payment because it was short and that I should have sent 672.30. Of course, they also charged me late fees.
I am in the process of refinancing my home, and they are trying to prevent it. I am looking for a lawyer as soon as possible. This is an unfair practice. I am also in a Chapter 13, so they should not even be sending me notices; they should be sent to my lawyer. If they think I am going to take this lying down, they had better think again.
