I had two cars involved in accidents, and I had auto insurance coverage with Allstate. Just read the two cases below to see how much struggle I had to face dealing with Allstate Auto Insurance.
Case 1: A deer hit my son's Acura. Allstate did not have time to come to our house for a damage assessment. So I was driving the damaged car to an Allstate location when a tire went flat. I called Allstate 24-hour roadside assistance. No one showed up for 50 minutes and I was asked to wait another 15 minutes. No one showed up, and I was asked to wait another 15 minutes, and so on. After 2 hours, I was shocked to find out that the service had been cancelled by someone from Allstate. Finally, someone showed up and replaced the tire after 3 hours.
After more than a month, Allstate sent a letter stating that the damage is not consistent with a deer hit. The claim was totally denied. My car has been in the driveway without repair for 55 days. (Does Allstate expect customers to take pictures of the car each time prior to driving, and upon a deer hit, to prove that it was damaged by a deer and nothing else?)
Case 2: My daughter had an accident with a Hyundai Sonata. It took more than a month to fix it initially, between the Allstate Auto Insurance damage assessor and the auto body shop. Upon return of the car, the motor mount was found to be broken, causing tremendous noise and a noisy suspension system. The Allstate assessor refused to approve the motor mount, stating it is a wearable part. I argued that the wheels and other parts also wear, so are you not approving those either? All parts wear over time and usage. If they are not covered, what is the purpose of having insurance? Finally, two days later, Allstate approved the repair. It took 45 days to repair the car, and it still makes noise.
