My dishwasher broke on 10/08. I called Fidelity and they ordered a contractor for me. The contractor came on 10/14/04 and I was told that the motor is broken. Nothing can be fixed without the part. I paid the contractor $40 for this check-up.
Fidelity notified us that there were two options for me. Option 1: they replace my old Whirlpool dishwasher with a new Kenmore one. Option 2: they give me $240 and I replace it myself.
I chose Option 1 to avoid the headache of shopping and installation. I don't want to mention that the Kenmore dishwasher they ordered for me is a cheap, out-of-date model which cost $150 at most.
On 10/22/04, a Sears delivery person came to our house unexpectedly. Both my husband and I were not at home. They told my mom that the countertop is too low and they could not take the old dishwasher out. They asked us to call Fidelity to send somebody to raise the countertop. Sears left the new dishwasher in my garage.
We then made several phone calls to Fidelity. They told us "raise the counter top" is not a covered service. They consider this service remodeling work.
Now we are dumped in this situation where there is a broken dishwasher in my kitchen with nasty water inside, and a new outdated dishwasher in my garage.
According to the warranty contract, they should replace my broken dishwasher, which is in the kitchen, as it is where it should be.
