I recently contacted the Window World company based on an advertising on TV that I saw in FL 1-800-WINDOWS and was transferred to a franchisee in Sarasota, Florida (I was not aware that I was going to a different location) to get a bid on replacing my homes windows based on their national and local advertising of $189 per window.
When the bid came back at over $400 per window I was shocked and asked about the increase. I was told that "we don't charge $189 in FL". Even though the windows are the SAME windows that they sell all over the country for the $189 price. Not even the "hurricane" windows that are sold in FL.
I contacted the president of the company and he didn't do anything. Also the local franchise said that each division of the company can charge whatever they want and blamed the problem on each other. This is a blatant "bait and switch" tactic at best - fraud is what I would call it. Absolutely do not deal with the FL Window World for any reason. If you deal with any other location beware as the corporate office will not help you in any way.
We have also contacted the State Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau and are looking for people who have had similar problems to help us get them to either change their fraudulent advertising or at least be honest with people as we would like to be treated.
