I am 21 years old, and I am a FORMER Disney Channel viewer. I grew up watching the Disney cartoon shows like Jungle Cubs, Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Timon and Pumbaa, 101 Dalmations, etc. The reason I tuned in to the Disney Channel every day is because they were delightful and pleasant to watch. They had endearing, lovable characters, and sometimes they would even teach valuable lessons on friendship and teamwork. These cartoon shows had an innocence and simplicity to them that truly made one feel that they lived up to Walt Disney's legacy. But... I cannot say the same for these contemporary teen flicks like Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Hannah Montana, Phineas & Ferb, Wizards of Waverly Place, etc. It's like that's ALL Disney has to offer their viewers now, 24/7, and it's absolutely boring! While I, myself never took an interest in these shows, word has reached my ears that they don't even teach good morals. I have no idea when or how Disney decided to COMPLETELY stop showing the good old-fashioned cartoons of the 90's, or, to get rid of Toon Disney, but I think it was a huge, huge, HUGE mistake. It's unfair that longtime fans of cartoon shows (like me) have to be shortchanged, all because the zany, 21st century environment we live in tells us that "times change". Sadly, the Disney Channel I know and love dosen't exist anymore. To be fair, Disney XD should have been an ADDITION to the already existing channels that made Disney great: Disney Channel East & West (Satallite), AND Toon Disney. I wouldn't be so upset if Disney would just function like any normal series of channels: Each one caters to a slightly different viewer. Disney Channel can show a broad range of family entertainment, Toon Disney can show all of the old-fashioned cartoon TV shows that fans of animation can watch, and Disney XD can be the teen flick spot. (At least there's no more JETIX. That was stupid as well.) Nowadays, about all I watch is Nick Jr. And ABC Family. Anyway, if Disney can bring back their old cartoon shows in the future, I would really appreciate it.
