BAIT & SWITCH, they tell you one thing and do something totally different!

I called Direct TV to inquire about there services & fees because i was looking to get away from Charter Communications whom I have had Cable with for over 25 years. I was told Installation was free, There was NO CONTRACT. Shipping was FREE and I would not have to pay for anything. When the Tech showed up to INSTALL the DISH after I had to pay a $22.32 for Shipping the equipment to the Installers place of Business (so much for FREE), He said that I had to pay $35.00 for a Modgel thing that I needed. This was on Fri May 17. I came home from work and we were so happy to finally be rid of Charter. (BOY WAS I WRONG) The very next morning (Sat) the TV in the living room did not work. Did not work all day. The next day (Sun) the TV in the Bedroom did not work. I called Direct TV Customer Service. I spoke to a girl who proceeded to tell me to unhook this and change this and move the channels to this & that and move the A/B switch back and fourth. This went on for over an hour. I explained to her that the Tech hooked everything up and I was unsure what he actually did. I explained to her that I just moved from being with Charter for over 25 years. This is where everything took a turn for the worse. She proceeded to laugh at me and tell me that I should be smarter than that and belittled me about not being able to fix the problem myself. I asked her to please send someone out to fix the problem please. She advised me there WOULD BE $45.00 service fee if the tech came out here and the TV was on the wrong channel. I told her that I was not sure what was going on since she had me changing everything for the past hour so if indeed that was the problem then she would be paying for the call herself. I asked her to please lets go ahead and set the service call up, and SHE HUNG UP ON ME. I called right back and spoke to 2 different people and was just not satisfied, so I told then to come and get there equipment off of my roof and I went back to Charter that very day. They shut off the Service on Sun however i did not have service all but for 3 hours on Fri the day if the Install. That was phase one. Now Phase TWO On Monday I get my Credit Card bill in the mail and Direct TV has Automatically withdrawn $66.58 from my card. I NEVER EVER gave them permission to deduct anything from my credit card so I called them and they tried to tell me that I gave them permission to do this. I spoke to 5 different people and every person I spoke to had a different answer. First I was not under any contract then I was under a contract and the next person I was not under contract. Then I supposedly had given permission to charge my Credit Card. The other 4 people said that NO I HAD NOT GIVEN PERMISSION. I was told that I never should have been charged any shipping. The list goes on and on. I have had several conversations with Direct TV about this bill for $26.73 that was suppose to be taken care of. No I am getting bills and Calls from A Nationwide Credit Inc saying that they are trying to collect a debt. I really do not know what to do. This charge was suppose to be taken care of and now that had pulled the old Bait & Switch saying that I never spoke to them.

My Credit Card put a hold on there charges and would not pay them. Thank God for The HONEST COMPANIES in this system. I really hope you can help me with this mess that they have created. After speaking to several people whom have or have had Direct TV I was told that this is there M.O. REALLY REALLY SAD!!! That they would take advantage of a potential new customer like this. I would never refer them to any one i know. I would be ashamed that they would do the same to them.
