Apparently the fine print in their contract stipulates that any necessary repairs to their installation must be paid for by the customer. Yes, we should always read fine print. Reality: it's a long contract, the fine print is very fine, and I have a foolish tendency to trust major national companies. So about a month later it stopped working in my daughter's room, and they told me I'd have to pay for them to fix it. We'd never even touched the wires! So I cancelled my contract and refused to pay early cancellation fee. Collection agencies have been after me ever since. This has adversely affected my credit report, but guess what — I still won't pay. Ever. Disgusting policy.
