GORDON Fascist SIMIC these folks are con-artists. They appear to be a legitimate company. They give a convincing illusion of legitimacy and organization. They threaten their drivers with horrendous fees and fines everyday

I am curently driving for Universal Taxi in Addison, IL. I am in my final " seven days of resignation". Thank God. All the other reports and reviews that you will read about on the internet and on this site are true to fact. The reviews that are positive about this company are ALL written by the salaried employees themselves, and not the hard working drivers who work on commission alone. We pay $78 a day to lease the cars. We must make this amount first before making any money to pay for gas and then rent or mortgage. The Lease for the poorly maintained cars is due by 6am the following day. Car Description: Paint peeling, streaming fuel injectors (malfunctioning injectors causing increased fuel consumption), dead battery that the owner of the company never replaces.

Constant electrical malfunctions. First Hand experience: I have a fare in my cab, and am on the way to O hare. I am about 3 miles away from the airport and the RPMs begin to rev to 3 then 4000. Only going 50MPH. Seconds later, my wipers go out while it is pouring cats and dogs. (wow! Awesome day!) I then pullover on I 294. The old Dodge Intrepid, then shuts off completely. So i have no battery power to even call dispatch. I use my cell phone that is nearly out of battery. So then they send another taxi to steal my fare for my first airport run. Then i wait an hour for the tow truck. We arrive at the Universal Office and i then have to deal with incompetent and worse, ignorant mechanics at the Universal Taxi shop.

Ofcourse with my luck so far, the car starts right away. It was later explained to me that the rain that day affected the cars electrical systems. I Had about $20 of gas in this car still. Do you think i was compensated for that when i was given an even older car with a bone dry gas tank? Well, i am writing this report in spite of the fact that i should be out driving this great taxi of theirs. Trying to make money to feed my babies and pay my rent. And God help me if i am able to make at least $170 tonight, which most definitely go back into the gas tank in this gas guzzler anyway. And ofcourse into the $78 lease which the owner pockets.
