Bought a hotel/airline package through Priceline. Paid 600.60 for 4 nights in Florida. Purchased insurance at the time I bought trip in case of a problem. Had to have surgery day before Thanksgiving. Trip was 6 days later. I had bleeding as a result of surgery and was still in pain and bleeding the day of flight. Called to cancel (as doctor did not want me to go) and was given nothing but hassle. Was told if I cancelled I would be charged 25.00 per night for cancelling, even though I HAD PURCHASED INSURANCE for 52.00. Called insurance company and was told they would refund my 600.60 but even they could not understand why Priceline was charging me an ADDITIONAL fee which would not be reimbursed. I called Priceline again after speaking with the insurance company to tell them it did not make sense to the insurance company either and was told that they were sorry but an additional fee would be charged and was then quoted "between 150 and 200 dollars more"! I told them I felt "forced" to take this trip even though I was in pain from surgery and bleeding excessively due to the additional charges which I should not be charged. The whole point of buying an insurance policy is in case you HAVE TO CANCEL! If a medical reason (to which my doctor will attest) is not a valid reason; what is??
