Thank god for the internet and a conciencious former employee of ramada resorts imperial majesty resorts... Here is my story... My wife and i went to a rv expo in calgary a couple of weeks ago where we entered to win a free vacation. To my surprise i got a phone call from a christopher beck on my cell asking for my wife... I told him that the number he called wasnt her cell (thinking it was a business assoc of hers) but i could take a message.
Christopher proceeds to tell me very rudely, "that if this wasnt my wife he was talking to, it wouldnt be any of my business!" Well let me tell u
you i am a professional musician who has witnessed my share of shady dealings and filthy crooks, so after blasting him with as many explicitives as i could (my friend who was standing beside me likened it to a sailor with terrets) i told him in no uncertain terms that anything to do with her involves me and vise versa!!!
He calmed me down and told me she had entered a contest and needed to speak with her... He then noticed that my last name was an unusual one and it sounded like a famous person from the US who believe it or not, is actually my cousin... When i told him that fact he replied "get the F#*! # out of here... Really no sh#*" red flags went up because even as a hard rocking musician who lets f-bombs fly too frequently, i am business savy enough to know that this wasnt professional behavior on any scale.
I gave him a contact number for her, then i called her to give her the heads up about this wing nut. He called her and told her about this glorious trip we had won... Just needed a credit card # to put a $299 deposit for 2 for 1 flight to orlando. Well someone was looking out for us today, as this is probably a haleys comet moment... This was the first and only time that i can recall that he just happened to catch the wife leaving her wallet (and credit cards) at home!!!
Both of us ecstatic that we FINALLY entered something and won, we came home to celebrate our good fortune. My wife being the brains of our operation had written down almost everything he said, and also found it odd that he questioned her endlessly about my famous cousin who shares our lastname. So with cocktails in hand we plopped down in front of the computer, only to get a glimpse of where we were going and the ship we would sail on... When we came across the link to this site.
Horror story after horror story we read about these schiesters and how they misrepresent and steal hard working peoples money. Seriously, what kind of regulations do our government representatives pass to allow these kind of low-lifes to exist and operate, not only in america but across borders as well!!!
To make a long story... Longer... Although my dear wife is heart broken about this scam and the foiled vacation, i reassured her how lucky we really are to have escaped the crap storm all these other people had to deal with... Some on a very limited income. We are fortunate enough to have the means to take such (and much better) vacations, although a freebie would have been nice.
I am truely looking forward to Mr. Becks call tommorrow when he assured my wife he would call our home to get that elusive credit card number he was craving. I would love to blog about that conversation but it would garner a "R" rating at best!!!
Sometimes one finds luck in the strangest of situations... We didnt spend a penny, gave no credit card info thanks to all the folks that wrote on here and the fact my wife left her wallet at home... GOD BLESS YOU ALL, BEST WISHES FOR THE FUTURE!!!
