I received a card in the mail from Ramada Plaza Resorts back in 2000. I was about a year from getting married so I thought we would take the offer up. My fiance and I spent $449 for a deposit to "secure our reservation" so no one else would steal our deal.
Well, 3 months shy of 3 years from the day, and after numerous calls to cancel, only to get extension plan after extension plan, I called a final time explaining firmly that I have a new job which would not allow me the time for vacation for a few years from now. I also explained that as of this upcoming June, I will have paid a grand total of $189.51 worth of interest on this credit charge.
Guess what I was offered... A brand new extension plan, one which would allow me to take my trip even ANOTHER year later. I informed Cindy, as well as Carlos, Rasheed, and Judy before her, that this time I was just going to need my money back. I received no services, therefore they should receive no payment. Is this not the definition of capitalism? The free market? The world trade system?
Just because the illuminating symbol of our world trade system burned in the blaze of glory, doesn't mean that it's principles and doctines did as well.
I've already burned almost $200 out of my pocket, and for what? Extension plans? They can keep their trip (which from this very website I have come to learn is very revolting), just GIVE ME BACK MY DAMN MONEY!!! You didn't have it before, so you don't need it now.
