I meet John Spooner back about a year ago while on a family trip to the Bahamas. I didnt think much of it but he gave me his card and website information (www.bahamaexperience.com) along with a sales pitch. Apparently he liked my boat and thought it would be easy for him to charter it out and make some money for me.
I didnt think anything of it until my wife brought it up later that year. The boat was just sitting there doing nothing as we only use it on special occasions, so we decided to give John Spooner a call. Things went well over the phone and we negotiated an 80/20 split. He would manage and charter the boat and we would get 80% of the income. This agreement was in place for 45 Days.
Once we meet John Spooner we went through and took pictures of the boat and verified everything was working correctly. Everything was ok and we signed the paperwork and the deal was done.
In the 45 days John Spooner confirmed that he took the boat out 13 times and I would be receiving a set amount of money. When I went to get the boat back and collect the money John wasnt at the office that day. I didnt think much of it as he seemed like a stand up guy so I went through the inspection with a coworker of his and was going to get my check later.
During the inspection I noticed the boat wasnt cleaned. The carpet was ruined like a few drinks were spilled on it, the stove wouldnt turn on, the main bed frame was broken, and one of the side windows had a large crack. I understand that things might happen and thats what his insurance company is for but its bad business practice to not even clean the boat after you have it for 45 days.
Anyways I filed a complaint with the company and asked that John get back to me ASAP and so that I could get my check. John Spooner has called with every excuse in the book. Needless to say this was a bad experience. Not only did I have repairs to the boat which should have been covered, but the boat was a complete mess and I didnt even get a dime! Stay away from this guy and his company!!!
