And Park Royal Hotel Mexican Caribean Vacation Spoiled by Royal Holiday Time-share Con Cozumel, Mexico

If you are traveling to Cozumel, beware of the guy at the airport that wants to offer you free tickets to someplace in town, cheap car rental, or even cash, if you will come have breakfast at Park Royal Hotel.

Ok, yes, we were taken in. We thought they wanted to promote their resort, but after breakfast we were led to a large room overlooking the ocean with a lot of salesmen chattering to clients. Yes-it was a time share pitch and it cost us a large part of our first day of vacation.

The company connected to Park Royal Hotel is 'Royal Holiday' and these salesmen are not going to let you go until you sign. So we did. We thought "why not!" We are approaching retirement in a few years and plan to take a nice vacation once a year.

That evening in our hotel were read the catologue given us. (especially the small print). We were sick to discover that what we were promised was not what was offered in the catologue.

The contract stated we had five days to cancel (I am sure they don't expect you to read the catalogue until after you return from vacation). That evening we wrote a letter of cancelation and tried to sleep, worried about the $3,400 dollar deopsit they had taken our of our VISA.

The following morning we went to Park Royal, and not for breakfast. We offered our letter of cancelation, which no one seemed to have the authority to accept. We were led to their sales office and still, no one would accept our letter. Four different salesmen were sent in to help us 'resolve' our concerns. We told each one firmly we wanted to cancel.

Finally, a letter of cancelation was given us stating our money would be returned in 15 working days. It was not.

Royal Holiday has an address in Flordia, but is agressively operating in Cozumel and I would assume other resort areas. Everwhere we went we were pressured to come have breakfast at Park Royal. So if you go to a town where there is a Park Royal Hotel, or are approached by a Royal Holiday salesman, beware.
