This company called me several times in a row, telling me I had won a mall entry vacation giveaway to celebrate their company's ten-year anniversary. They called themselves Apex. At first I thought my friend who is from India was playing a joke on me, because their accent was so like his.
I asked for their company's website, which turned out to be a valid home page. But when I clicked on "FAQS" "About US" or "How it Works, " there was nothing behind these pages. He told me that this was because I didn't have any log-in information yet.
Still skeptical, I was willing to listen until they asked for my bank information to pay the $1.95 fee. They said they didn't want my debit card or credit card info, which would be illegal; only my bank account information.
I told him I couldn't give that information over the phone was and he turned very rude and spoke to me as though I were an idiot. At this point I told him good day and hung up.
He called back twice and when I said to please stop calling, he said "What is your problem!" so I hung up again.
Fortunately my husband warned me not to give any bank info over the phone EVER unless it is with my own bank!
