Our story is much the same as many others reported on this site. After sitting thru hours of presentation for the Great Escapes vacation club, we decided to join. They told us we could go to all of these places and stay in nice condos for a lifetime for about $4,500 up front and a couple hundred a year. A high-pressure sales presentation by a skilled con artist that sounded so good to my wife and I because we travel a great deal.
We booked a cruise Great Escapes only find after we returned from our cruise we could have booked it for less with a local agent.
After using them to set up our first cruise we never could get a return our email or phone call when we would request prices for cruises, hotels, etc..
Now for a real laugh: I just received a notification from Great Escapes that my account was past due for the $179 annual membership fee, and (get this) that I could enroll in their Electronic Funds Transfer program.
These folks are a bunch of crooks that someone needs to put out of business! I hope they enjoy the money they're screwing people out of now and I hope they like really hot places because I think there is a special place in hell for the owners and I hope the devil uses salt on their burned flesh.
My advise to anyone is to do NO business with any of these companies or you could be ripped off.
