Travel Club phone number is no long valid. I followed instructions for using my certificate for one of my club weeks and made reservations with Coast Getaways for a resort in St Maarten. Did not get confirmation email & called Coast Getaways & was told my reservation wasn't available after all. Was told an "upgraded" reservation was available but would have to pay an additional $50.00 and pay immediately. I went online & gave Coast Getaways my credit card info & paid immediately as requested. Our vacation starts on Jan 19th & we were to be in St Maarten on that day. I went to the Sea Palace link and found it to be a hotel rather than a resort & on the local residents beach which is strewn with trash & glass bottles, etc. And right by the wharf where the cruise ships come in and the local vendors sell their wares. All ammenities listed read (nearby), nothing at the hotel and reviews on the web were very negative. I immediately emailed Coast Getaways & advised this reservation was not what we requested & was unacceptable. I was advised there was nothing else available on the 19th. I agreed to change our vacation to get the reservation we requested. I got a return call stating they would find me another "resort" but it would cost an additional $200.00 and would not be on this Saturday/Jan 19th. I advised I was unable to pay any additional monies & requested they find me what they originally told me was available for $399.00 (plus the additional $50.00) and we would change our vacation week to coincide with the reservation request. They again called & said if we would take the Sea Palace reservation the hotel would find us another hotel & give us $100.00 if we were not satisfied. I advised that the hotel is not the "resort" we are supposed to have & is still a public beach which is not what we requested. The statement was made "I wish "travel insurance" had been bought & we wouldn't have any trouble refunding your money. I advised that "I do not need travel insurance". I am not unable to travel. They did not confirm our "original" reservation & they should be held responsible. At this writing, I have not been contacted resolving this situation and they have our $499.00, we have a vacation week and no where to go. Can you help.
