I prucahsed two 4-day 3-night Mini-Vacation packages in June with six location to select from offering both east coast and west locations. I wanted to travel west to Phoenix or Palm Springs only. No stipulations requiring additonal fees or restrictions were listed in the U-Bid offering. I thought it would be a great way to pre-pay some travel expenses.
I was issued two certificates after they received my money one ending in 286 1 A and one ending in 288 1 A at that time I read the travel requirements and identified that I would be charged an additional reservation fee for each individual of $50.00 per reservation. I complained to Mini-Vacations they stated that if I had any problems I would have to take them up with U-Bid.
I immediately contacted U-Bid and complained about the additional fees and the additional travel stipulations that were not a part of the offer to bid. U-Bid told my that my purchase had been completed and my only recourse was directly with Mini-Vacations. I contacted Mini-Vacations a second time and was told that I would be required to pay the additional fees.
I recently filled out the paper work and on 7-29-02 I requested a vacation in Phoenix, AZ for the last week of October. I sent a check to Mini Vacations in the amount of $99.95 to pay for the $50.00 required reservation fee, and $49.95 for a check-in other than Sunday through Wednesday. The check for $99.95 was sent with my requested vacation of which I had already paid $180.00 for the certificate.
On 8-29.02 I did get my scheck back for $99.95 and a letter stating that Unfortunately the date or your destination that you requested are not available. I am enclsoing your room guarantee deposit check for $99.95.
If you wish to use your certificate at a later time please fill out the information below with your new date and 3 different locations.
I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF they are continuing to hold my original purchase amount of $180.00 for each certificate, the conditions to use a vacation are changing each time I try to use them.
MINI VACATIONS is a Bait and Switch operation.
