My wife and I have owned a timeshare at Fairfield Smoky Mountains in Sevierville, TN since 1998 or 1999. We really havn't been satisfied at all with our ownership because we can NEVER get reservations when we want. We bought a low 105,000 points, giving us a 1 bedroom at this resort.
We stupidly were talked into purchasing an additional 77,000 points at Daytona Beach for the purpass of giving us more points to leverage better reservations at various resorts in the Fairfield system of resorts. That was in Sept. Of 2006. The salesman gave us his personnal cell phone number and told us to call him anytime with a concern or reservation. We have called him several times and have yet to have a call returned.
Now, for the real reason for this report. We vacationed the first week of July of this year, at our home resort at Fairfield Smoky Mountains. Lee Landers, Member Services Manager, PRIVATE Cell Phone #865-803-9630, met with us briefly to go over our ownership and to see if all was good. During the short meeting, we were advised that we apparently "missed out" on a special deal that Wyndham Vacation Resorts, the new owners of Fairfield Resorts, offered to customers with more than one ownerships such as ourselves. He made out like the company was trying to, in his own words, "clean up their accounts" and there there was incentive by including more points.
During a extendend meeting the next day (2 plus hours) we were told explictly by LEE LANDERS, Member Lervices Manager, that we could combine our two deeds into one at Smoky Mountains, and our points would go to 336,000 points. He told us a price around $80.00 but later came out with a price of $139.60 for the actual cost of the deal. During the time we spoke and before anything was signed, I very bluntly asked LEE LANDERS, Member Services Mangager, to make sure that no other expenses were to be expected other than the $139.60 that we'd write a check for then. NO was his answer.
Again we were told time and again that this was a "special" offer that Wyndham was offering to "clean up" their accounts by offering more points at one resort. Now, keep in mind, if any of you have ever purchased anything from one of these scam artists like LEE LANDERS, Member Services Manger at Fairfield Resorts in Sevierville, TN, you know that now the paperwork starts with someone "official" that we haven't seen up to this point. Paper after paper was shoved in our face and when I try to slow the process down by picking up the first few pages, I'm rushed to sign by the guy and LEE LANDERS. Man, I should know better! The main page I should have payed attention to shows that, in fact, we are getting a loan for over $21,000.00 to cover the 336,000 points. But, get this, this is the ONLY page in the contract not signed or initalled by me or my wife or anyone else for that matter. It's only been a little over a month passed, but I vividly recall a page or two that was flipped over with the guy saying something like "this one doesn't have to be signed! That was the one!
On top of that, we NEVER filled out or authorized anyone to do a credit check on us or a loan request. Also, when we gave them a voided check to cover the monthly maintenance fees, the got our account # and drafted the first payment of $282.82 for the first monthly payment. That's actually how we found out we had a balance with Fairfield!
These people are CROOKS, THIEVES and LIERS, especially LEE LANDERS, Member Service Manager in Sevierville, TN. Do not buy anything from Wyndham Vacation Resorts or Fairfield Resorts!!!
