This is a general complaint. It seems that Carnival has some aging ships, maybe its time some were retired.
We just got back from a disapointing cruise aboard the Ecstasy that was supposed to go to Cozomel.instead we were taken to a dump called Progresso after the ship had propulsion problems. I have done some reading and it appears that this is pretty common for this cruise line (several vessels in their fleet)
I had read that Carnival had a satisifaction gauruntee and I tried to invoke this priveledge before the first port of call. Very difficult to get the pursers to be honest about this clause. After some tap dancing and $175 of calls to the home office they conceded. After thinking about treking across Mexico with my family (no passports) and a bunch of luggage, my family voted to stick it out.
The staff aboard was awesome and I felt sorry for them. They were force to make lemonade from this pile of lemons. I did some research and it seems like this happens to some of the aging Carnival vessels.
I would sure like a refund. I think that this borders on deceptive trade practice. If you do not receive what you pay good money for you should be compensated by Carnival.
