Horizon Travel
Assumed rip-off

We got a call on July 1 from 709-539-2373 which our caller ID noted as "Sonnenschein Ma". This person left a message in our voice mail to call him back. Claimed his name was Paul and claimed that we won either a 2006 Cadillac Escalade, or one of 4 other major prizes, but he never said who it was he was trying to reach. The number he left for us to call back was 877-256-7894.

Today, 7/3, I called the number. A woman answered and said I did not need to speak to Paul. She told me we won either a 2006 Cadillac Escalade, a 10 Hawaiian Vacation, a 7 day Alaskan vacation, a 4 day Bahamas plus 3 day Vegas, Orlando or some other place vacation or a Television set. This was from an entry we sent in the past 12 to 18 months. I only enter HGTV, DIY, This Old House type sweepstakes through their respective websites.

I asked her if it was me that entered, or my husband, and she said it didn't matter - never answering my question - Then she said we'd need to make an appointment to go to a 90 minute live presentation in Norwalk CT at which they would give us a scratch ticket that would determine what we had won. I told her I couldn't make the appt without my husband.

I was given a claim number to use to call back to make the appt and the phone number she gave me was yet another number - 877-256-7879.

I have spent 2 hours trying to find a Horizon Travel in Connecticut, no less Norwalk. I cannot find a reverse lookup for any of the 3 phone numbers. After reading the posting done by Heather in Torrington, I'd have to stick with the motto that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I live in the Northwest corner, so it sounds like they've purchased a local call list and this is the newest method of "cold-calling" folks. I'm just guessing, because maybe you can actually purchase something of value from these people, but the fact that they left information out regarding purchasing something with an expensive price tag makes it appear like a fraudulent act.

It would be great to find someone who actually "won" something from this company. Until then, we're considering it a SCAM and based on Heather's notes, we are not going to attend the presentation. We think our time is more valuable and have a better chance at winning Lotto.

Good luck to anyone giving it a try!!!
