In December of my wife Melinda booked a vacation for June 3 with The Visitor Center on the Internet here in Florida. The total cost was $2,962.00. On May 8 she was contacted by a company official (Wayne) stating that he needed $3,000.00 more because the original hotel was not available but another hotel was. Wayne made this same statement to me as well.
The Visitor Center used a company in New Jersey called GoGo Vacations that charged my wife's AMEX account the total cost of the vacation including 4 airline tickets without her verbal or written approval. The contract with the Visitor Center asked for $1,000.00 down payment. However, a day later, they asked for the full amount. They broke the contract and they refuse to refund my money. Company officials are telling me that I am responsible for the cost of the vacation.
I have reason to believe there was a scam from the beginning between The Visitor Center in Colorado and GoGo Vacations in New Jersey. Both of these companies should be fully investigated for deceptive business and illegal practices and I am sure there are other victims. I am requesting that your office and the District Office of New Jersey look into these companies for criminal behavior and if charged both should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
