I want to tell you a scary thing that happened to my
son and his wife. They got this phone call from a travel agency
saying he'd won free airfare for 2 and they wanted to
send him info in the mail. The info he received was
for a discount travel club, get 2 free plane tickets
when you join. Notice how this has already changed
from winning a contest to an offer to purchase.
The info says you've got 90 days to decide to cancel
if you don't want it. He called to cancel right away.
He's swears he never gave them any info on his bank
account, but the next thing he knew they had taken out
$149.00! You know how you can go online and see the
copy of the cancelled check? Well this one looked
like a money order he said, and where the signature
would be there was this phone number to call for
authorization. You call the phone number and you get
a recording.
Chris went to the bank, he uses Armed Forces Bank, and
they said that was very unusual and they thought his
account info was stolen. They reversed the charges
and closed his account and opened him a new one.
