I recently booked a hotel for a friend through Expedia... He inadvertantly told me San Jose when he was flying from San Francisco. I cancelled the reservation within 2 hour of making it and Expedia is denying my request... Because I did not cancel BEFORE I made the reservation. Below is their email:

Thank you for your response.

As per records, you have booked this hotel reservation at the Clarion Hotel San Jose Airport on January 15 at 6:42 PM PST. The reservation was cancelled on January 15 at 8:37 PM PST.

Please note that the rules and restrictions of the hotel reservation were presented to your during the purchase path and on the itinerary page. Here are the cancellation and change policies of your reservation:
Cancellations or changes made before 12:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time (US & Canada); Tijuana) on 1/13 are subject to a $25.00 penalty.
Cancellations or changes made after 12:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time (US & Canada); Tijuana) on 1/13 are subject to a 1 Night Room & Tax penalty.
Cancellations or changes made after check-in on 1/16 are subject to a 100% penalty.

Please be advised that the rules and restrictions do not change and do not adjust to the time that you had made the reservation since this is the rules and restrictions of oru hotel vendors.
