The football teams of two local schools sold the 2-night hotel stay promoted by Encenta. I purchased a voucher and sent the activation form in.
I was informed by friends who had also purchased the voucher that they had received a letter informing them that this promotion could not be honored as the company Encenta was involved with for this enterprise had gone out of business.
I contacted the football coach at our local high school and let him know about this situation, but he had just found out about it himself. He, in turn, contacted Marriott and was told that they are developing a class-action suit against Encenta and will not honor any discounts or promotions regarding Encenta, Inc.
Today I contacted Encenta Promotions, Inc.By phone and stayed on the line to speak with an operator. The lady I spoke with told me that the company had, indeed, gone out of business but Encenta was offering customers who had purchased the voucher a choice of three different options, those being:
1. Up to a 50% discount on hotel stays for the period of one year. —or—
2. Discounted golfing. —or—
3. Discounted entertainment and skiing.
I requested, by phone, the hotel discount and am now awaiting the letter confirming this. The lady I spoke with informed me that this discount applies to "all hotels". I will post here the information I receive regarding the letter upon receipt of it. I won't be convinced that this is an equal trade-off until I receive this information and attempt to use the discount next month.
