Shady practices and unauthorizedd charges!

I purchased the mlb app for my iPhone last year to listen to games. I paid $14.99 for it and it was fine. Well fast forward to today and I noticed a charge on my check card for $119.50 from mlb.com. I received an e-mail from MLB. Tv saying that the mlb. Tv premium package was available and I was automatically being charged for it! I could understand if I was charged $14.99 again, but I was charged $119.50!!!

I called to cancel and after being on hold for over 30 minutes finally got to an actual human. This customer service representative was extremely shady and said he would cancel the package for me, but would not tell me if I could get a refund for it. I had to wait 10 business days to receive an e-mail to tell me if I get a refund or not. At this point I became extremely heated, since there was no reason given as to why I was charged $120 to begin with when I did NOT sign up for MLB. Tv. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was given some strange confirmation number and was put on hold for another 10 minutes.

The supervisor was very nice, however, when once again I asked him WHY I was charged 119.50 for mlb. Tv when all I purchased was a $14.99 iPhone app he did not give me a straight answer. However, since I was trying to cancel the service within 5 days of it being renewed he said I would "most likely" get a refund.

Now I have to wait 10 days to hear back, and in the mean time I am out $119.50. I will probably just end up disputing the transaction with my bank. I also went ahead and canceled that debit card, so these shady SOBs can't try and charge me when the 2012 season comes around.

I am just absolutely appalled that legitimate company like MLB. Tv would engage in such shady, unfair practices of "auto renewing" people. I could understand if I were charged $14.99 again, but $119.50 is ridiculous. I also plan on contacting the BBB. After doing some quick google searches, I have found that I am not the only person that this has happened to. The worst part is that I never directly gave MLB. Tv my credit card information. They took the information that I had associated with my iTunes account on my iPhone.

Stay away from both the app as well as regular mlb. Tv unless you want unauthorized charges on your credit card!!
