Colorado Natural Horsemanship Center BUYER BEWARE! Will take advantage of unsaavy buyer. Took our money (OVER $3000.00) & didnt provide agreed upon sale. We made mistake of trusting their word!

Beware of what this entity 'says' they will provide. We are guilty of not looking out for ourselves and not demanding a detailed written promise.
We paid over $3000.00 cash for the purchase of a horse for our daughter, who was a beginner rider.
Within a few days we were beginning to see that the horse was not a good match for our families abilities. This company said they understood the problem and stated: "We will keep at this until we get it right" They came, picked up the horse promising to help locate a more appropriate animal for my daughter. I didn't ask for my money back at this time as I was confident he would replace the horse. We have been patient and waited. Since he has not located another horse for our money, we were considering taking the original horse and selling it to recoup some of the money spent at 'Gentle Horsemanship Center' of Colorado.
I now received an note from Jim Rea advising me that if I wanted the original horse back I would have to pay him over $5000.00 (in addition to the $3500.00 already paid to him, for a total of over $8000.00).
Talking with other equine professionals, his behavior is not the business standard, and he is taking advantage of the fact that he comfortably has the horse and our money, without any intention of completing the sales transaction.
Our family made a huge mistake by taking this man at his word. We realize that this is sort of a 'shame on us' for being so naive.
There are many reputable people and businesses out there selling horses, but as always: buyer beware—especially if you are contemplating any sort of business with Jim Rea or the Colorado Gentle Horsemanship Center—our experience was not a good one, not an honest transaction—actually it ended up being no transaction on anyones part but ours: we gave him money, he checked out of the deal!!!
We have since become the owners of 3 beautiful equine pals with the help of reputable people selling their horses. Our experiences with these purchases held none of the trickery we experienced in dealing with Jim Rea of Gentle HOrsemanship Center, in Calhan, Colorado. While we feel were swindled out of our money by Jim Rea, we are much more saavy now and hope to prevent others from making the same COSTLY mistake.
