We made reservations over the phone in March for the weekend before July 4th. We explained that we needed a RV space with room for our trailer, a tent, and an extra truck and boat trailer. The park staff told us that they would have no problem meeting our needs and suggested that we call the day before arrival so they could save a space that would meet our needs.
When we called the day before arrival, we were told that they remembered us and our needs. Further, they had just changed to a reservation by computer system, but would immediately assign a space that would meet our needs.
Upon arrival, we checked in and were given a space number. We drove to the space and another trailer was fully set up in it. (This space had no room for the tent or extra truck and boat trailer). We went back to the office and were told the people must have mistakenly moved into our space. The owners offered to make the people move from our originally assigned space, but we did not want them to have to do that. We were then given two other spaces to choose from. We chose the one that fully met our needs.
After we were almost set up, the campground host showed up and told us we had to move. We later learned that a large RV had called the day before and reserved our space beginning the last night of our stay. Remember we had made our reservations in March. The new space they wanted us to move to again did not meet our needs. After much discussion, the owners reluctantly let us stay in the space we were set up in.
The owners, however, were mad at us and spread the word to their staff that we were "Problem RV'ers". We even heard the owner's wife telling marina staff over walkie talkies that we were problem RV'ers.
There are 40 spaces in the RV park. The spaces are crowded closely together and offer no privacy. There are only 2 individual toilets in the park; they were always filthy.
We paid to moor our boat at the resort dock. Our assigned moorage slip was very shallow. To reach the lake, you must go through an area of extremely thick weeds that foul a boats' propellor.
When we returned to the dock late one evening, there were 5 teenagers on the dock catching chubs. ("No Fishing" signs are posted at the dock, but obviously not enforced). The teenagers would catch the fish, and either stomp their heads on the dock, beat their heads against the dock or hit them with an oar like a ball and a bat out over the lake. One of the 5 teenagers was wearing a red East Lake Resort Staff shirt. When asked what he was doing fishing on the "NO Fishing" dock, he replied that he was "supervising the activity".
We found the activity to be totally gross and disgusting. As a result we left the park a day early, forfeiting the fees we had paid.
