I started training at a home health aide company called Special Touch Home Health Care. The first day was going good until someone stole my phone. When I told the lady whose name is Maria De Jesus she told me its my problem because my phone shouldn't have been charging, which is besides the point.
On our 30 min break my phone started to go dead so about an hr before class was over I put my phone to charge so it wouldn't go dead while I was on my way home. Never did I think someone would steal it because of the fact that were all there to become home health aides meaning were going to be working with elderly people in there home so stealing should be the farthest thing from your mind. Originally I thought the Orkin stole my phone because he was the only one over there at one point.
As I was explaining the situation to Maria she went on to say she didn't think it was the Orkin guy because he has been with them for many years and that when she was coming in the class to give us the appointments to do a drug test she saw one of the students from the class over by where my phone was.
So I ran outside to catch him and went on to say why would he steal and how he was a cop. My thing is if your a cop what are you doing taking home health aide classes! He also went on to say that he was graduating from the academy on Thursday. I do not know his name because this was just the first day of class.
I have been calling to see what I can do about this matter and no one will help me. The company would rather send thieves out to work with the elderly!!! While we were in class a woman named Lucinda who is VERY rude came in the classroom very hostile making a big deal about students being absent, late, and having a bad attitude but when I brought my situation to her attention all she had to say was its not there problem. I told her i was just letting her know because I'm sure she doesnt want to send a thief to a clients house but still it wasn't her problem.
I even spoke with a guy named Evan who is in charge of the facility and he told me that stealing also happens in their office and there's nothing they can do about it.
I STRONGLY suggest that anyone looking for home health aide services not to use Special Touch Home Health Care located on coney island ave because they don't care about students or staff STEALING yet they make a big deal out of being absent and late. All they care about is keeping the company going but little do they know that company wont be open for long with thieves working for them.
