Contrary to conservation efforts and global electricity green initiatives, Reliant Energy has found a way to charge residential customers for NOT using electricity.
Its called the "Base Charge" On my bill it specifically states:
"A Base Charge of $9.95 is included for each billing cycle in which your usage is less than 800kWh. A Base Charge of $0.00 is included for each billing cycle in which your usage is 800 kWh or more."
How is this remotely fair or reasonable? A monthly FEE for NOT using electricity?
I am a single man, living in a single family residence, and I naturally use less electricity than my neighbor with a family of 5. Why am I being charged for using less electricity?
This has completely removed my initiative and desire to conserve electricity. I am being discriminated against, as a single man, because I dont use enough electricity... The PUC, the FTC, the EPA, none of them care.
