Directbuy of Brooklyn and Queens is a huge scam and I just want to let people know about my experience. They sent me a letter in the mail that said I would receive a free tablet if I just went to one of there showings in Queens to see how I can save on furniture and many other products. I confirmed over the phone that the offer was legit and they gave me a date and time to come. I went on Sunday 7/15. I went through there show which was ok. They said they would save me a lot of money on anything I buy. I did a minimal search at there showroom and saw the savings they were reffering to were not adding up. They would calculate a savings from the MSRP prices when in fact many stores sell well below those prices. I called them out on it and they continued trying to sell me on it. There offer basically costs $6,000. You do have the option to do it in payments but they charge interest on that and the total comes out to nearly $10,000 in order to be able to buy from them at "wholesale" prices. This deal lasts for about 7 years. You basically need to spend over $100,000 over the course of 7 years to even break even with there offer and of course they need to be paid most of the money upfront. You would think this might make sense for wealthier people who might spend that amount of cash but even so compared to those prices if you shop the right way you can get there prices on your own. There is absolutely no need for there service it would make sense to no one to pay upfront in order to save a little and get some of that money back over time. I explained to them over and over that even if the savings were there there is no way I would spend anything close to $100,000 over the next 7 years. The very high pressured sales pitch did not end for over 4 hours! They brought salesman after salesman after me trying to convince me and they wouldnt let me leave. I was very close to signing up and handing over the cash and I am not a person easily convinced or weak. I can see the weak being easily convinced of this fraud. I am shocked that such a business can exist here in new York without being shut down.
After finally giving up on me I quietly asked for my tablet. The sales girl "Maria" who I think is also the owner told me they just ran out and I would need to come back next week to pick it up and go through another sales pitch. I very strongly told her there is no way I would be ever coming back here and I wanted what was advertised. She then told me I can ship it out to you but that they dont have any "boxes" for the tablets and it would get destroyed during shipment. I told her I would give her $5 for a box so she can send it to me and she told me she would have it in the mail in 7-10 days. I called up 10 days later and they told me they still have not come in but call next week. This went on and on for 15 weeks beleive it or not. I filed cases with the BBB and consumer affairs and even spoke with there corporate office. The corporate office was even getting the run around from this place. I spoke to nearly everyone in that office and they all have the same lines. "Its out of our hands"."The last shipment got lost"... Corporate after 3 months finally sent me a tablet and of course it didnt even work. I looked it up on Google and its a $35 machine from China that would not even turn on after charging and was just thrown out. My fight was not for the tablet but for the principal. This business does everything wrong from A-Z. I think people should know about this and I think they should be closed down.
