Googled "Pomeranian Puppies for sale in GA" - found ad listing for an ADOPTION. Man claims wife was the breeder, she died and he works long hours so must get rid of litter of six; two left. Doesn't want an adoption fee, doesn't want to sell it - only wants a GOOD LOVING HOME for the animals.
Claims puppy is AKC registered, micro-shipped, first shots, guaranteed 1 yr health certificate and 11 weeks old. ALL I have to do is pay the courier who will deliver the puppy to my front door step. He wants me to promise to keep him updated with photos of the puppy I choose as it matures.
Courier contacts me with instructions to send $250.00 $50.00 = $300.00 to address on email he sends via WESTERN UNION because paypal and credit cards are under audit or web-site reconstruction and unavailable.
(Credit cards & Paypal PROTECT consumers against fraud - Western Union does not - once it's gone, IT'S GONE!)
When I got suspicious, I emailed "the widower" asking for the AKC litter registration number. No response. When courier called back, I asked HIM for the AKC registration number of the LITTER. Even if the puppy had not yet been registered, the litter would have been in order to validate the claim of a pure-bred, AKC registered animal as stated in the ad. (Have Breeder friend who knew this, made suggestion)
Ad also stated puppies were in my state. Ads on the web site were good for 2 weeks; date posted and date expiring shown. When I asked to come see the litter, it turned out he was in Portland, Oregon! (He moved inside the two weeks he posted the ad??!!??) The picture had a date stamp on it that was mostly cut off but a " 06/ " was showing as though the photo had been taken in June. How are June born puppies 11 weeks old in October as stated in the ad?
The emails that had been received "alluded" to the fact that the $300 payment would be made directly to the courier upon ARRIVAL of the puppy to my front door. That's when he SWITCHed the scam - want you to send the money FIRST before you get any flight info or tracking number. He wouldn't even give me the AKC puppy litter registration number saying he WOULD give it to me as soon as payment was confirmed!
Breeder friend of mine also thought that a litter of the size he mentioned was an awful BIG litter for a dog as small as the breed. She also noted that a "change of ownership" was as easy as signing the back of the registration form. This scam artist made it sound like a process!
I believe "HIM" to be "the widower" AND the "courier service". I looked up Cameroon - it is in Africa. I looked up Pet transport services, found pet transport SCAMS, BLOGS and now this web site. This guy has quite a reputation.
I would not send money with the AKC registration number and he would not give it. I told him I was on to him and without a way to confirm the puppy was even real, we were not doing business. The has been no email from "the widower" who was so concerned about the puppies having a good one since the courier called.
Many flags were there, we just CHOSE not to see them because of our enthusiasm about finally welcoming another puppy into our home. They played on my heart strings... I hate him for this.
