I had just moved to a new neighborhood and was in need of a dog sitter for a business trip that would last 2 days. I found Care.com while searching for dog sitters and they lured me into their site by promoting a 'free' job posting.
I posted the job for someone to dog sit for two days and received 6 immediate responses, however, in order to reply to anyone or to receive detailed information about them, I would have to pay a membership fee of $40 (for one month)! This fee was more than most people quoted it would cost me to have my dog watched.
People who tried to give me their phone numbers had the numbers crossed out (xxx) and when I try to amend my job post to let the responders know that I could not get back to them as I did not have $40 to join, Care.com said my post violated their guidelines.
I read their guidelines and my post did not violate it at all. What they didn't like was that I was telling the people who have signed up to be considered as workers that Care.com wants me to pay $40 for their information.
If they hadn't posted the 'free' job posting, I never would have signed up for this site. It's misleading and false advertising and they rip you off!
