I ordered a toy kitchen from Brookstone on 12/2 and was told it was in stock and would ship out on 12/5. We just got our kitchen redone in dark wood, granite, backsplash, & stainless steel appliances. The play kitchen is the same & I knew my daughter would be so excited it "was just like Mommy's kitchen". Kidkraft had one that I wanted but that was out of stock online so I went with the Guidecraft Modern Kitchen instead. I called and placed my order to make sure it was in stock (instead of ordering online). Again, she said it was and it would ship out on the 5th. On Fri the 16th I had not recieved it yet and went online to track it. It said it was still at the vendor. I called Brookstone and was told it was out of stock until the end of January and there was nothing they could do. I was furious they shouldn't have told me it was going to ship out when it wasn't even in stock. Then to NOT EVEN CALL OR EMAIL me to let me know!!! If I hadn't called I would have assumed it was on it's way and I would still be getting it in time for Christmas. I ended up ordereing a different smaller, pink kitchen which I did not/do not want, but that I could pay 2 day shipping for and still get by Christmas and have a day to put together. (I ordered it from a different company). I had asked on Fri for a manager to call me. I got a call Monday afternoon and she said "oh we just got notified from the supplier this morning that it is out of stock and we are working on notifying everyone now". I told her I didn't believe that for a second b/c Brookstone had already told me it was out of stock. I asked if they were giving any discounts or if there was anything she could do for me. She had the nerve to ask "oh was this going to be a Christmas gift"?? OF course, you idiot. How am I supposed to explain to a 3 year old Santa couldn't get her present? I had already bought the food and pots and pans to go with it. Such poor customer service. I will never order anything from them again & will tell everyone else not to. Now I am stuck with a pink kitchen that is too short for my daughter. She doesn't like pink. I know she would have been so much happier with my original order. You can't sell someone something especially before Christmas and then not deliver or offer it at a no charge or a discount for the problems it caused.
