I join a memberbship with my children. Unfortunately I signed a 1 year contract with the company for my children and myself. The company used Affiliated Acceptance Corporation for the monetaries. Well things have changed and it has become necessary to move, sell our house and purchase another. I call the company to notify them about my need to cancel our membership. They said it was fine, just send them a letter requesting cancellation of membership.
I did. AAC (Affiliated Acceptance Corporation) 1 month later still automatically withdraw all three membership fees. I called the company Seung-Ni to speak with them, about the company that handles there accounting. I talked with one of the owners and he said he didn't handle that part of the business, and would have the other partner return my call. No call was return.
The next day I contacted my bank and explained to them that I had did what was requested and wrote the letter & cancelled my membership. The bank refunded what AAC took out. Now yesterday to my surprise ACC sent me payment of demand, now it had attached late fees and return check fees for all 3 accounts. The balance was $390.00. I was shocked, not only trying to move, but now this company is put a mark on my credit report! I called this ACC, the have no clue, there representative said "didn't you read the contract"."Your membership will not be cancelled for 30 days after the receipt of cancellation"."Now that your bank refunded your money it reactivated your account (all three)"."Now you will be responsible for the remaining balance". That is about 3 to 6 months. I then asked her what was my options to get out of this, of course she put me on hold to speak to someone else. She came back and told me that if I paid the return check with fees the membership would then be cancelled. So relucantly, I did.
Any ways this is a warning to all, don't sign any contracts that let another take money out of your saving/checking for membership. I learn a expense lesson. It make the family bonding membership a big REGRET!
