Dishonest and incompentant - Do NOT USE

I do not know if they are dishonest or incompetent but either way do not use this 1st Class Air. I purchased my house 2 years ago and had the a/c units checked thoroughly and one unit needed a pound of freon because the fill cap was missing. The freon was added as well as the cap and the unit has worked great since then. I scheduled an annual check up of both systems. The repairman came out and said one unit was low and needed a pound of freon he also stated that they needed to be chemically cleaned. I agreed to both.

After he finished checking everything he also decided that a part needed to be replaced. I agreed to this as well. When he gave me the price for me to pay before the work was done I argued over being charged for the freon as it was included in their advertising as being included. He stated it was not and I had to pull up the web site and even then I has to find a coupon in the local clipper magazine. Amazingly after I proved that I was not paying for the freon, when he came back in after cleaning he said the levels were up and I didn't need freon after all.

I paid and he left. For the rest of the afternoon and that evening the a/c ran but the house would not cool down and at 11pm it was still 80 degrees in the house even though it was set for seventy two degrees. I called 1st Class Air and was told it would be the next day before anyone could come out and they sent the same repairman back out. He rechecked everything and decided after a few minutes that I needed 2 1/2 pounds of freon and added it to the unit without getting permission and handed me a bill for the whole 21/2 pounds.

Again I had to argue with him and he changed it to 1 1/2 pounds of freon. I asked how it could need freon today when he said it was fine yesterday and he said that is just how it goes sometines. I paid it and he left. The house still did not cool down and I made another call to 1st Class Air. This time they sent another repairman that checked everything and it was all working great that the split was 17 degrees and for a system that was about 7 years old that was great. A new system is only a 20 degree split.

He said that he checked for leaks and everything looked good for that age system and there were no problems. But if I was still unhappy I could call back the next day and I asked what would they do tomorrow that he could not do today and he said the only thing left to do was for me to replace the whole system. I asked if he was crazy and he said there was nothing else they could do. I did not call them back out.

I did call another a/c company and they stated that the split was 15 degrees and it looked like I was loosing freon and that a full system check needed to be preformed and the leak located. This is very different from 1st Class Air's response. 1st Class Air treated me unfairly, charged for services they did not perform and did something to my a/c unit that was working fine until they serviced it. Learn from my mistake and do not use this company.
