I want to thank you folks. First to your website and two for you folks that have taken your time to stop and write your stories down so that somebody like myself would find it and not make the same mistake that you have learned the hard way.
I just had a meeting with the local VP of Benard Haldane here in Austin, Tx myself. After being laid off from the telecommunications field, I have become desperate in looking for another job in my field and pay range.
After meeting with Benard Haldane, I got the same line that I should be making so much more than I'm currently making. She went on to tell me that with my military background and my past jobs, I've showed a good progress and good job moves.
She went on to tell me that with the amount of time at my last job I should have moved up and on again.
I was with Southwestern Bell Telephone as a technician for two years, made management and worked there for another two years and eight months.
My wife chose not to attend with me the second time because she wasn't sold on what I came back and told her.
The VP at BHA told me that my 54k a year was below what I should be making and that they could assist me in finding that job that makes your heart go "pitty-pat, pitty-pat".
Like a sucker, I bought it since I had been so unhappy my last year and half at my last job. At the second meeting I was feed the same lines with one fatal flaw on their part.
Before, she had told me that I had made several good moves and show good progress. This time she told me that my resume made me look like a rolling stone and that would be something that we needed to work on.
Just to give you a heads up, my resume reads like this 4 years Navy, little over two years at a major semiconductor company (laid off from), the Dell computers for 9 months at a dead end job and then SWBT for four years and eight months.
Again, laid off. So from that I've had this bad gutt feeling. I'm just glad that I found your website and you folks that have been through their so called career management.
You just saved me $6500 dollars.
