Purchased a 21 gal Air Compressor at 3.00 pm. Took it home, put it together turned it on and it did not work properly. Called Harbor Freight where item was purchased in Clarksville TN. Representative said to bring it back, which I did at 4.00 pm same day 55 minutes later.
Tech checked it out and adjusted the pressure regulator and it seemed to work. Then it quite after achieving 90 psi, this is good. Then I suggested to release the air and drop the pressure, to trigger the re-start to fill the tank. Unit would not restart on auto like it should do. I then requested a replacement since this unit was defective, and they refused, stating this one works fine. (right - if you stand next to the reset button)
OK, I then requested my money back since they would not exchange the one for another. My reason was clear, I did not trust the working defective unit simply because working on the roof and having to go down to reset the Air Compressor when it quit or stalled was not my idea of a good trustworthy air compressor.
Store manager agreed to give me a refund after some disagreement, but Harbor Freight charged a 21% restocking fee and showed me the fine print statement on the receipt. This made my so angry I lost all control for a brief moment, not what I would call nice behavior or language, and I am sorry about that and apologized, but to charge me 21% restocking fee for returning a defective Air Compressor 55 minutes later seems like a rip off to me. I will never spend another penny with any Harbor Freight store again. I believe this Clarksville Tennessee Harbor Freight store manager could care less if I ever return or not. This was the worst experience I have had and will tell all my family and friends to avoid this store.
