I saw an ad on the TV for the Best of Carol Burnett DVDs and phoned for more information (as the TV as said), last November. I was quoted some $80.00 and that was all - I was assured my ONLY charge would be that one charge. I made it clear, that was all I was ordering, the one item for $80 odd dollars. My Visa was charged twice monthly every month, some months 11 days apart, following the purchase, on different days, different amounts, and my credit card company could not stop it. Either could I over several months.
Columbia House went beserk charging my card, was non-responsive to phone calls and ignored letters, as well as ignoring a demand to stop charging my credit card. I never even received anything for all the charges except for one time, another set of 4 or 5 DVDs and I returned it - "rejected", unopened, but the charges persisted. I had to cancel my credit card. Subsequent fees as a result cost me probably in excess of $100 and I spent a lot of time and frustration trying to fix the problem. Don't buy anything from Columbia House.
It was a nightmare for several months. They had no authority and once they get hold of your account number, you belong to them. They're as crooked as they come.
