Ripoff would not return my money even when I provided proof of check posting through my bank

I purchased an extension cord for an air conditioner at Lowes and when I got home realized that I had bought a 220 air conditioner extension cord instead of a 110 3-prong extension.

I wrote a check for my purchase. I do online banking so I knew my check had gone through my bank and went to Lowes to get a refund. I would have gotten a new cord but they did not carry the type I needed. I was told that they could give me a store refund but my check had not cleared. I told the girl that I had just looked at my account the night before and my check had cleared. She let me know that her records did not show that and clearly did not believe me. I was furious. I value my integrity and I do not write bad checks. Their cash registers are supposed to varify that when someone writes a check. After completely losing control I left and drove home and printed out a copy of my paid check and back to Lowes I go.

I asked for the manager and proceeded to ask her for a refund. She told me she needed proof. I held up the paper for her and she immediately jumped back and stated, "Wait, don't put that in my face, I don't do that." It took a minute for me to realize what she was even saying. "Academy Winning Performance" I just ignored this and explained everything to this woman. After seeing my "Proof" the story suddenly changed to "Lowes does not have the technology to get things instantly. I did not believe that then nor will I ever believe this.

The manager then told the clerk to give me my refund and gave the girl "her card" to key this into the register. Well, they tried every way under the sun to make this go through and finally told me that "headquarter" had changed the system and would not allow this. UNBELIEVEABLE

I still do not have my refund which was really large (Under $20.00) I will not fret though and will wait my 15 days but there will never be a day when I will ever buy anything from Lowes. Never! It is like I told the manager, "How many customers do you think they would have if they treated everyone that tried to buy something the same way they treat customers when they try to return something?"
