On feb. 15 my company was contacted by americas infomart to perform a de-winterization in wi. We have vendors that directly work for us or contracted thru us to perform work in several states. The reason they contact us is due to the fact the work order was late and they needed someone to cover this order for them that they were familiar with that had rep's in this area. We had reservations due to some issues with communication from two months back that resulted in us canceling two orders which were the first orders we received from them. They tend to contact you when they need assitance and expect you to either have the work completed in that same day of contacting you no matter what time they call or by the very next day of contact. We sent a new vendor on this assignment as a test as well as due to the short notice. The work was completed and we turned the results in promptly. There was an inspection scheduled
For a few days later and there were some immediate repairs that they needed performed that my rep was able to handle however after we informed the rep to provide a bid to handle this task they decided to contact aim directly and submit there bid without consulting us first to make sure that the figures were okay. Both aim and the rep (which is now removed from our company) decided to not contact us again on this order. When we contacted aim regarding this issue after we sent another rep to this site they discovered the the former rep we had was already on site prepping to perform the repairs that was sent to us to preform. When we call aim they asked us if we could still perform the job for the price given to them by the former rep even though the rep was fired and we declined to do so due to the fact that no one from our company had given aim the names of these reps as someone authorized to negotiate on our behalf and they were fully aware of this and furthermore they were aware as any other company in the preservation industry that no vendor under contract is authorized to work directly the hiring contractors client as a competitor particularly when that vendor is performing services on a property that was contracted directly for us.
They have since allowed this rep to perform services for them at this property for the bid amount submitted and canceled the work order with us.
We have not and will not work with this company on any projects and recommend that you think twice is you are a contractor particularly in the property preservation industry about working this type of company. There are too many of these companies in the industry and if no one works for them the cannot and will not be able to survive and continue these types of practices with other companies. We only performed one service for them but it is obvious that it could and would have been worse if we chose to handle any other work orders for them. It is now march and we have yet to be paid for any of the work that has been performed even though have already paid the rep for the services they rendered on the initial work order.
