Purchased a complete system from Marine Depot after being assured if there were any issues I would not be inconvenienced and that what set them apart from other retailers is their "dedication to customer service" First the tank was not as described and poorly constructed. The other equipment was substandard and not as described. On my first complaint the tank, I was told basically that is the way the tank is constructed and that they WOULD NOT RETURN the item. I had to threaten an attorney to draft a letter and state I would reverse the charges before they authorized a return only if I paid to ship the tank at my expense and they would determine if they would warranty merchandise as originally told. Then the light fixture went bad. Mind you several weeks had gone by trying to fix the primary issue... A bad tank that leaked! I had replaced the tank and tried to use the lights and other equipment. After placing very expensive live stock in my table the light stops functioning. What does MD do? I have to send the light back at my expense, wait three to seven days and then they will ship back another light of same "quality." Again their choice!
Well my corals and live stock would be dead so I have to dish out another $500 at local live fish store. Then the protein skimmer is simply junk and does not even fit in original tank as described. Again they say I opened the package so it is used. I ask how do you know if product fits with out opening package and actually attempting to fit it in tank? This company lies and has NO customer service. After being told they take care of everything with the manufacturers directly and ship out replacements and handle everything at their cost they do a real bait and switch. I will never buy from them again. They promised a mere 5% refund which as of today still has not hit my credit card. I am pursuing fraud and charge reversal. When they received my letter indicating my actions they threatened me with going to the local police for theft. Honestly when you contact them as a new customer they promise the world. When you buy... Caveat emptor... Buyer beware. Just saying.
