Guardians and Angels
Criminal/scam artist Internet

I also have been ripped off by Guardians and Angels breeder Lynn McLean. Knowing I was in an accident in 2006 and suffered brain damage (with memory problems) and my 11 year old Doberman passed away 1/30 she was able to "suck me in" with her lies. I spoke with her for hours thinking this is the type of breeder I am looking for, a breeder who cares about their puppies and where and who's homes they are placed in.

After the passing of my 11 year old she said she would bring the puppy on 2/13.By the time she actually arrived it was 12:11 am on 12/14. She stayed for almost two hours having me sign "the contract that I was unable to read she just told me where to initial". Having brain damage she should have sent me that contract earlier so I could have my mother or step-father read it so I wasn't signing anything that I didn't agree with. But with her health guarantee on her website and all the hours we spoke I figured I was safe. Wrong! Luckily my uncle and aunt came to visit and found a website with people complaining about Guardians and Angels... I wish I was smart enough to have done that before I bought this puppy. The more we found out about Lynn the angrier we all got.

I asked her for a large male, calm and assertive Doberman. I needed a large male, for my 11 year old became my working dog helping me with my balance when I was changing shoes etc. He was almost three feet tall (not including the ears) and before he was diagnosed terminal and began to loose weight he weighed at his healthiest 133 pounds. He was a big boy! Lynn knew I needed a large male for my balance issues and I needed a calm dog. I instead received this small for his age puppy born on 11/11. She said he was thin because he was in a grow spurt. Once again I knew better from my other Dobermans but at the wee hours in the morning I was not thinking (something I don't do well). The puppy started having diarrhea. I contacted Lynn and she assured me it was because he was in a new environment and on a new food that she recommended. I felt she could be right because he was put in a car and driven 8 hours and entered a house with 3 other dogs (hence why I also wanted a calm and assertive Doberman). This puppy is actually just the opposite. He may have been calm for her for he was sick!

On Sunday afternoon we took him to the Emergency Vet for he felt really warm and the diarrhea was even worse. This poor puppy had a temperature of 104.6, his blood work came back that he was anemic and had a very high white blood cell count. The vet concluded he had a very bad bacterial infection. The next morning (Monday) I took him to my vet where he was placed in ICU. The worst part was as I was getting ready to walk out the door without my puppy there was the box of my 11 year old Doberman's ashes. I called Lynn and she was very sympathetic and told me she was planning on coming down to Florida on March 17th where she "would square things with me" and/or replace the puppy. I continued to scan and email her each vet bill with out receiving any reply but one asking why my vet was vaccinating a sick puppy (he was getting his boosters after he had been on 2 types of antibiotics for several weeks and he was no longer lethargic nor had a fever), but still continued having this very high bacterial level in his stool. After her email of "why are they vaccinating a sick puppy" that was the last I heard from her. I continued to scan and send every vet bill with an update on how the puppy was doing. I did inform her that after 4 rounds of antibiotics the vets wanted to do a GI stool panel to find out just what type of bacteria they are dealing with. If the GI panel did not come back with the answer the next step is an endoscopy and take out a sample of his intestine. I once again wrote Lynn and told her for the second time I would go as far as the GI panel but was not going to do the endoscopy and she would need to replace the puppy with a healthy puppy.

To sum things up about this puppy he is not calm. He is the opposite of calm. He bites everyone where it is your arm or leg and don't dare try to kiss him on his head or he will bite your face. These are not nips he actually draws blood. He jumps on you whether you are facing him or not facing him, just what a person with balance issues needs a puppy jumping on me from either direction front, back, and if your sitting he will jump on your side. He will not listen to "no", "leave it", or "off".instead he starts barking at you and then bites you. He jumps up on the counters, the kitchen table, the refrigerator, basically anything. He chews everything from his bed to furniture and constantly is chewing grass which now we have huge bald spots from him pulling up all the grass in certain areas. This puppy is far from the normal Doberman temperament. I have enough experience with Dobermans and this puppy is not normal. He has these strange outbursts "which I call angry puppy" when he does not get his way and the next thing you know he is jumping up on you and biting you. He is not large (and that may be a good thing for now so he doesn't jump up on me or trip me making me fall) he doesn't even weigh 30 pounds for a 5 month old puppy.

I can't remember everything else but this is definitely not the puppy I requested nor should have been given. I have no idea what to do with this puppy since this morning after dropping off the stool sample for the GI panel and sending Lynn the scanned vet bills and telling her I will not do the endoscopy and she will need to replace this puppy she "blocked" me from her facebook page. I guess she was worried I might smudge her "professional reputation" with all her other buyers. What she did was fueled the fire hence I've been searching for where she lives all night and finding more and more horror stories of other people who have been given a sick puppy or have had money wired to their account without receiving a puppy. I now have invested over $4,000 in a puppy I have had a little over a month (that includes the 2,500 for the price of the supposably "vet checked" puppy which I received no vet certificate saying this puppy was healthy). I refuse to pay any more and I just want all my money back so I can go to a true reputable breeder and get a healthy puppy that is large, calm and assertive like I asked for.

Anyone who has bought a puppy from Guardians and Angels you can forget about their health guarantee for you will not get a replacement puppy or anything from them. That 4 year and 8 year guarantee means nothing! You will just be ignored like the rest of us.

Another owner who is suing her in criminal and civil lawsuits told me about the puppy lemon law. I recommend anyone who got a puppy from her to look at your states puppy lemon law the website is: http://www.malteseonly.com/lemon.html.
