I went on-line to book a reservation for a three night vacation, on cheap rooms.com. They did not say i would be going through a real estate broker, but i found a deal, you pay $89.95 for the first 2 nights and get the third night free. I looked over the add and decided to go for it. After i put my visa number in, i printed out the confirmation sheets.in the fine print, it stated they would charge me at check-in an additional $115.44. I asked them at check-in what that was for and they said for housekeeping charges. They said i had to pay it if i wanted to get my room key. Another party we were meeting there had done the same thing. She was told they would refund the money to her because she complained about it. She has not received it.
I have written to them twice and received no reply or refund. They refuse to refund my money or respond at all. I thought it would be good to save others from the same fate.in the add it stated the total amount that would be charged to my visa was $204.40 which included a $24.50 service charge.
It is just not right to travel so far and then to have the room key held for ransom until you pay them more money.
Housekeeping fees are generally included in the price of a room rental. I have never had this happen before and this should be reported and stopped. People need to know the exact amount a room will cost before they book it.
