I ordered a 1-year membership from Peoplesmart, a company who claims they can get information about a person by using a phone number, email address, etc., which cost around 35.00 per year. First, their site is misleading. After you pay this ridiculous membership fee, they neglect to tell you outright that you must keep purchasing credits in order to continue retrieving whatever information you are looking for. A phone report is 40 credits, background report 150 credits, work information 10 credits, etc., etc. 150 credits will cost you $29.95— so basically if you order 3 phone reports, which provide very limited information, your 150 credits is about through. They gave me the first phone report with my membership, so essentially I paid around $35.00 right off the bat for one phone report.individual reports, without the membership, cost around $10.00. Do the math. Next, I searched my own phone number, in order to verify the authenticity of the site, and the information I got was totally bogus. The name they provided was some company name that I'm not sure even exists, the phone carrier and zip code were also totally wrong. Only thing correct was the county I reside in, which anyone could have figured out for free based on the area code. They even provided a fake map pointing to some faulty location where I supposedly dwell — also wrong. On top of all that, in order to get even more FAKE information, such as addresses or background checks on the number you're searching, they have the audacity to ask you for even more money at these outrageous, dumb prices. They're illegitimate crap peddlers—DON'T give them your money. These people should be put under the jail. I've contacted their customer service department, told them they were full of it and demanded a refund. I am also going to contact the FTC, Better Business Bureau and whoever else will help stop these people from scamming folks.
