I joined It's just lunch to meet other professionals. An employee at the office interviewed me on my interests, the type of people I was interested in, and she assured me they would choose people based on my criteria. She hustled me out the door after taking my check, and I was not allowed to ask questions. I have been on five incompatible, and some truly miserable dates. One of them was even an alcoholic-something I stated I did not want, and I should have been informed about.
I called the offices to communicate my concerns but each time was hustled off the phone. I was even bullied into dating people I didn't want to date. At the beginning, I was told there were hundreds of clients to choose from, but after speaking to another employee, there appears to be only three! I was guarenteed 16 dates which fit my criteria. But apparently, the employees are just picking people they want.
The owner of the franchise refuses to refund me my money for now. He has guaranteed a refund if they can't find someone within 90 days who fit my criteria. This however was not stated in the contract. He also claims that contract states I have 16 dates or 1 year membership, whichever comes later. They could delay my 16 dates for 10 years! It appears he can say anything he wants to including lying, and get away with it. He also claims I 'm the only client out of hundreds who are dissatisfied. However, after some research, I found very similar complaints about IJL on consumeraffairs.com, as well as an insider's report on how they really conduct business. Do not waste your money! They are the used car salemen of dating and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
